Is toffee the most delicious food in the world? While I can’t categorically make that claim (because I have not, personally, tasted every food in the world), I can say it’s got to be up there. In it’s simplest definition, toffee is what happens when sugar molecules react, by way of heat, with the amino acids (proteins) in butter to form new, more delicious molecules. That right there is science and magic. Whether it’s in bar form, crumbled into cookies, or melted into a cake, toffee is the first ingredient I search for on a restaurant’s dessert menu. Making it at home is not just fun, but it’s easier than you might imagine. Here are a few of our favorite recipes to get you started.
