(5)

A Note From feedfeed

This is the only appetizer you need this holiday season! It’s just as festive as it is delicious, and it comes together in a flash! This recipe is made easy thanks to our Shun Cutlery Knives. We're using our Shun 6" Utility Knife to slice the persimmon and to give the herbs a rough chop, along with our Shun 7" Santoku Knife to slice the brie. Collecting the pomegranates is easy with our Shun 3.5" Paring Knife, and we slice up our baguette with a Shun Classic Bread Knife

All of these ingredients come together so beautifully as sweet seasonal fruits are paired with melted brie, fresh mint, and hot honey. This is an amuse-bouche that your guests will LOVE! Can’t find persimmons? You can always swap it out for apples or pears. Happy entertaining!

Goat Cheese Spread

ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 1 cup goat cheese
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste

Crostini

ingredients

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 large sprig of fresh thyme
  • 1 baguette, sliced `
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3/4 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 lime, zested

For the Goat Cheese Spread

Method

  • Step 1

Crumble cream cheese and goat cheese into the bowl of a food processor. Blend for 10 seconds or so, then scrape down the sides of the bowl and add salt and pepper to taste. Blend again for 10-20 seconds until cheese is creamy and well-blended.

  • Step 2

Scoop whipped goat cheese into a small bowl and set aside.

For the Crostini

  • Step 1

Pour honey into a small saucepan. Add thyme sprig to honey and stir to combine.

  • Step 2

Warm honey over very low heat for 10-15 minutes to help it absorb the thyme flavor. Remove from heat and set aside to cool briefly while you prep the rest of the crostini ingredients.

  • Step 3

Lay baguette slices in a single layer on a sheet pan. Drizzle bread with olive oil and bake at 375 degrees until bread is lightly toasted, about 4-7 minutes.

  • Step 4

Top each crostini with a teaspoon or so of whipped goat cheese spread, then 1 or 2 blackberries. Sprinkle chopped basil and a pinch of lime zest over each crostini.

  • Step 5

Finally, use a small spoon to drizzle a bit of warm honey over each crostini. Serve immediately.
