Props and Provisions Recipes

The foundation of a great food shot starts with a beautiful plate. I’m enamored by handmade ceramics, worn linen napkins, vintage flatware and rustic bread boards and I’m always on the hunt for my next great score. Building a collection of props for food photography is a lifelong obsession. It’s all about finding unique things to tell your perfect story. I want to see your dishes, trays, wire racks, kitchen tools, linens, glassware and anything else. Tag your submissions with #feedfeedprops and #feedfeed to get featured

A Note From robinzachary

My love of props and styling began even before I knew what to call it. As a child, I was inspired by my grandmothers, my aunt and my mother who grew up and lived in New York City in the 30s, 40s & 50s. Their collections of beautiful vintage kitchen tools and tableware excited and enticed me. I was thrilled to receive whatever cast offs they would offer me and use them in photos. "You want these old things?" they would say. It was like hitting the jackpot. Working at magazines after college, I wouldn’t give a second thought to jumping on the Long Island Railroad from Manhattan to meet my mother on the platform at the Valley Stream station to hand off a vintage plate that I needed as a prop for a photo shoot. Now that they all are gone they live on in my heart through these beloved items. I owe my passion for hunting and collecting to all of them.
