Shrimp
ingredients
- 2 pounds shrimp
- 1/2 small onion, diced
- 7 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 eggs
- tapioca starch, enough for coating the shrimp
- sesame oil, enough for deep frying
Sauce
ingredients
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon aromatic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon gochujang
Method
Step 1
Peel and devein your shrimp or you can leave the shell on if that’s how you roll.
Step 2
Dice 1/2 a small onion and minced 7 cloves of garlic. Set aside.
Step 3
Dunk your shrimp into your eggs (whisked) & tapioca starch. Allow her to sit while we make our sauce.
Step 4
To make your sauce, mix all of your ingredients under “sauce” in a bowl and set it aside.
Step 5
Back to our shrimp: deep fry on medium heat for 1 minute. Place onto a paper towel to catch excess oil.
Step 6
In a skillet, heat up some sesame oil and sauté your garlic and onions for 2-3 minutes or until your onions are translucent (high heat).
Step 7
Reduce heat to medium, add your sauce and stir. Your sauce will start to bubble and thicken. Once this happens. Add your shrimp, turn off heat and make sure each shrimp gets coated with your sauce.
Step 8
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallion. Enjoy with a bowl of warm white rice.
