ingredients

  • 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled and chopped into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 inches fresh turmeric, peeled and chopped into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 whole hot peppers, roughly chopped into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 onion, roughly chopped into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced
  • 1 head of garlic, peeled
  • 4 inches fresh horseradish, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 3 cups apple cider vinegar

Method

  • Step 1

Add all vegetables to a food processor, as well as black pepper. Pulse until all veggies are in small, semi uniform pieces, similar to the texture of sauerkraut. Add honey and pulse again several times.

  • Step 2

Add contents to a 1-quart mason jar with non-metal lid and top with apple cider vinegar.

  • Step 3

Keep out of the light and shake gently once a day. Leave to steep for 3 weeks.

  • Step 4

After 3 weeks, use a clean tea towel, nut milk bag, or cheesecloth to strain the liquid through, reserving the liquid and discarding the processed vegetable matter.

  • Step 5

Store the finished fire cider away from the light in a glass jar for up to 18 months.

  • Step 6

Take 1.5 ounces once a day for health maintenance, and increase this to 3-4 times per day for an immune boost!
