Poached Pear Crumble

"This recipe is like a deconstructed pear crumble. I didn’t want to be fancy; the pear tastes merely better after soaking in rose wine bath."

  • 4 peeled and deseeded pears
  • 1 cup earl grey tea
  • 1/2 bottle rose wine
  • 3 tablespoons agave syrupe
  • 2 vanilla pod


  • Step 1

    Pour the wine, earl grey tea into a medium-sized saucepan. Add the spices and bring to boil.

  • Step 2

    Place the pears into the poaching liquid, cover with a lid and gently simmer for an hour. (Cooking time depends on the pear used).

For the crumble


  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup whole grain flour
  • 5 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

  • Step 1

    Mix the ingredients for the crumble and scatter into a small baking tin.

  • Step 2

    Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes on 180 degree C or 355 degree F

  • Step 3

    Remove the pears and reduce the poaching liquid. Drizzle over the crumbs when serving.
