Apple and Cherry Galette

(0)
"Galette is a very festive looking dessert, but you don’t have to wait for the next holiday to bake it. It’s effortless to make, you can use all sorts of seasonal fruits, and it’s a crowd pleaser. Or you can scoop some vegan vanilla ice cream on top, wrap yourself in a blanket and watch your favourite series like I’ll do tonight."

ingredients

  • 250 gram vegan butter
  • 1 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 50 milliliter ice cold water
  • 2 peeled and sliced apple
  • 2 sour cherry
  • 2 tablespoons each brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoons each flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • oil for brushing

Method

  • Step 1

With a fork, mix the butter with the flour and sugar for a few minutes. Add the cold water but don’t overdo the dough. You should still see butter pieces inside.

  • Step 2

Wrap it into cling film and chill for an hour.

  • Step 3

For the fillings, mix the fruit in separate bowls as we’re making 2 medium size galettes. Mix them with the sugar, flour and cinnamon powder.

  • Step 4

Divide the dough into two and roll them out. The best if you work on grease paper as it’s easier to transfer them to a baking tray.

  • Step 5

Place the fillings to the middle and fold in the sides. Bake for 50 minutes on 190 C degrees.
