Arepa Dough & Flower filling


  • 2 cups Harina Pan, ( pre-cooked corn meal)
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoons salt


  • Step 1

    For the Arepa Dough: Mix all ingredients and work the dough until is soft to form arepas but moist. Once the dough is ready for arepas sear on both sides on a cast iron pan and finish cooking in the oven at 350 for 15 min. Cut open in the middle and add flower filling and avocado. finish with flower petals, fresh thyme and moringa leaves.

  • Step 2

    For the flower filling: On a cast iron pan, place hibiscus flowers, sliced peppers tomatoes, onions, garlic, thyme, olive oil, salt, panela, & coconut aminos, cook at 375 for 20 min. Mix well. add the flower filling to your Arepa, add sliced avocado and flower petals to garnish. Enjoy this delicious vegan & GF dish!

Hibiscus flower filling


  • 2 cups hibiscus
  • 1 cups sliced peppers
  • 1 cups cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cups sliced onions
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoons fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoons fresh moringa leaves
  • 1 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoons panela, ( brown sugar)
  • 1 teaspoons coconut aminos
