Bacon Swiss Cheeseburger with Caramelized Onions and Mushrooms

Kick off grilling season with this crowd-pleasing cheeseburger. Grilled up your favorite burger and add a slice or two of creamy Finlandia Swiss Cheese, then top with sweet caramelized onions and mushrooms and some crisp bacon. Add a swipe of Dijon mustard for a little kick! We love to serve this cheeseburger on a pub-style pretzel bun, but any burger bun will do.

  • 1 pound ground beef, (or 4 prepared burgers of choice)
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • 1 cup caramelized onions and mushrooms
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 4 pretzel burger buns
  • Bibb lettuce, for serving (optional)
  • 4 slices Finlandia Swiss Cheese


  • Step 1

    Preheat grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.

  • Step 2

    Season burgers with salt to taste. Grill for about 3 minutes on the first side, then flip and top with Finlandia Swiss Cheese. Cook for about 3 more minutes for medium-rare, or 5 more minutes for a medium.

  • Step 3

    Spread a tablespoon of Dijon mustard on the top of each pretzel bun.

  • Step 4

    To assemble the burgers: place grilled burgers on the bottom pretzel bun, then top with caramelized onions and mushrooms, two slices of bacon, some lettuce if using. Place top pretzel bun and serve immediately.
