We go cranberry picking in wild bogs near our home in Amagansett each Fall. As soon as we get home, we freeze the cranberries and use them throughout the long winter in this cranberry sauce, in chutney and in cranberry orange scones. Flavored with Simply Organic spices, this sweet, tart & warmly spiced cranberry sauce is sure to become a new holiday favorite! Ingredients 1 12 oz package fresh cranberries (about 3 cups) 1 apple, chopped ¾ cups red wine ½ cup sugar ¼ cup maple syrup ½ tbsp freshly grated ginger ½ tsp salt Juice & zest of one lemon Juice & zest of one orange ¾ tsp ground cinnamon ¼ tsp ground nutmeg Pinch ground cardamom Pinch ground cloves Pinch allspice Pinch black pepper Directions Combine all ingredients in a medium sauce pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, mashing the cranberries with the back of a fork as they cook. Let cool for about 15 minutes, then check for seasoning, adding more salt, pepper or maple syrup as needed. Store in a airtight jar for up to three days before serving.
