Meal Plan: September 25th

(1)

Hispanic Heritage Month is here and we’re celebrating with a Special Edition Meal Plan filled with recipes steeped in tradition, spice, and a heavy emphasis on family. These meal plans are some of our favorite projects to work on because we get to learn from multicultural recipe developers, creatives, and food people and gain a new perspective to help influence my own work and how we approach food here at The Feedfeed. While Hispanic Heritage Month officially runs from September 15th through October 15th, we encourage you to follow these creators’ culinary endeavors all year round (and others, too!) and use this opportunity as a jumping-off point of exploring other cultures! Flip the script on your usual cooking routine and stock up at the local latin market or support a small Hispanic-run business.

If you make any of these recipes, snap a photo and tag us #feedfeed @thefeedfeed on Instagram or TikTok for a chance to be featured. Happy cooking!

Chamoy Drink Rim

"Food is my love language and I love connecting with others through the beautiful Latin foods I grew up with. As a Guatemalan/Salvadoran-American born and raised in Southern California, most of my recipes reflect Mexican and Central American cultures, and my ultimate goal is to inspire others to whip up delicious dishes they may not have heard of or to utilize ingredients common in Latin cooking that they may not be familiar with, such as dried chiles, cactus or plantains."

Conchitas a la Parmesana

“To be a food content creator is a task that requires lots of love and passion for what food is and what it represents, it’s one of my ways to show the world my heritage and culture. Being a professional Peruvian chef and pastry chef lets me contribute and add a diversity of styles and fusions to the already diverse San Diegan/Californian cuisine”

Risotto a la Peruana
By Rodrigo @rodrigofernandini

"I was born and raised in Peru, and my country is the perfect example of being inclusive with other cultures, Peruvian gastronomy has a lot of culinary influences from around the world and that's the reason our food and techniques are so special. The food it's never static, it keeps moving and there will always be new ways, new flavors, and new ideas but all of that ends in the same idea, making people happy, present, smile, and satisfied. I love working with my hands so cooking was always something I enjoyed and it never felt like a job so it was very comfortable for me to keep exploring the culinary world."

"For me, being able to connect and build a community around food has been and is a very important part of my life for me. Living far from home makes me miss Peruvian / latin food and the feeling that this gives me, so cooking makes me relive those moments! I always say that 'Love is made in the kitchen' and it fulfills me to be able to connect with my followers and teach them that they can show love to others, build attraction and even flirt through food!"

Pumpkin Spice Flan
By Marisel @mariselmsalazar

"My recipes are not just about specifically connecting only with Hispanic or Latino folks, but people of all backgrounds who love Hispanic food and food in general. They get excited at trying something new or different. It has brought me closer to my own Hispanic culture and opened my eyes to others. It warms my heart and fires up my oven and stove to hear from folks who are curious and excited about not just the Hispanic recipes I share, but Hispanic food in general and how it has changed and evolved by being here in America. As a Panamanian immigrant-turned-American, I hold both of my heritages dearly, and I want to celebrate both – like this Pumpkin Spice Flan that unites my Hispanic and American backgrounds. The social media food community has been one of the most welcoming groups I've had the pleasure to be a part of. I am so thankful to have forged so many friendships, colleagues, and kinships through this special community."
