Below is a link to our favorite German Chocolate Cake Recipe. You will only need half of the frosting recipe.
RECIPE FOR THE TRUFFLES CONTINUES HERE:
Once cake has been removed from oven, allow to cool slightly and then break cake up into crumbs using a fork in a large mixing bowl.
Add in about half of the icing mixture and continue mixing until combined.
Then roll into balls using the palms of your hands. Place dough balls on a baking sheet covered in parchment paperAllow dough balls to chill in the freezer for 30 minutes.Melt melting chocolates in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between each until fully melted or in a double boiler.Using a fork, dip dough balls in the chocolate until fully coated, tap the bottom of the fork against the bowl to remove excess chocolate.
Before the chocolate dries, garnish with:
pecan crumbs
coconut flakes
coco powder.
Allow truffles to dry, then store in an air-tight container until ready to serve.
