Cardamom, Vanilla And Miso Oats

Miso does't melt so make sure you mix well, otherwise you get little salty miso bites, which are quite nice actually. Second time I incorporated miso in copious amounts of coconut cream and was lovely as well.


1 cup wholegrain oats

1 tsp vanilla powder or pure extract

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp cardamom

1/4 tsp ground ginger powder

pinch nutmeg

1 cup water

1/2 cup coconut milk/cream plus extra as needed

1 heaped tsp of white miso paste

2-3 tsp brown sugar or coconut sugar

1 tsp blackstrap molasses

To decorate:

Hemp Seeds

Crushed Almonds

Roasted Cashew Butter

Extra Coconut Cream


In a medium saucepan, heat the oats, vanilla, spices, water and coconut milk/cream over a medium heat for 2-3 minutes until creamy. Adjust liquid as needed.

Remove from the heat and stir through the brown sugar and miso paste.

Serve in a bowl. Finish with a drizzle of molasses, roasted cashew butter, hemp seeds, crushed almonds and a drizzle of coconut cream.
