Savory Chive Dutch Baby

"I took the weekend off of instagram, and damn it felt good. I've learned that when I start feeling a little too attached to my phone, that the best thing to do is walk away and focus on something creative. Anyway, let's talk about this SAVORY DUTCH BABY that I whipped up this morning. This is so easy to make in a cast iron and takes 5 minutes to pull together. ⠀"

For the Dutch Baby


  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup spelt flour
  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped chives
  • 2 tablespoon butter



  • 1/2 cup microgreens
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Sprinkle of goat cheese
  • Sprinkle of pepper flakes


  • Step 1

    Heat a cast iron skillet for 10 minutes in a 425℉ oven.

  • Step 2

    In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, flour and chives.

  • Step 3

    Carefully, add butter to the heated pan along with the batter. Bake the dutch baby for 20 minutes until fluffy.

  • Step 4

    Serve the dutch baby with microgreens, mushrooms, avocado, goat cheese and red pepper flakes
