For the Churros:
ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- Oil, for frying
For the Mummy Decorations:
ingredients
- White chocolate, melted
- Candy eyes or homemade edible eyes (details below)
Method
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, and butter. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 2
Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in the flour until a dough ball forms and pulls away from the pan's sides. Allow the dough to cool briefly.
Step 3
Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep-frying pan over medium heat.
Step 4
Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe strips of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
Step 5
Fry the churros until they turn golden and crisp, approximately 2-3 minutes per side. Once done, place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Step 6
Dip each fried churro into the melted white chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off. Drizzle the chocolate over the churro to create mummy-like bandages.
Step 7
[Note: If you're out of candy eyes, you can create your own edible eyes using mini marshmallows by flattening a mini marshmallow as much as possible. Use a hollow tool (like a straw) to cut the marshmallow into circles. Add a dot in the center of each circle using black icing or chocolate. These will serve as the homemade edible eyes.]
Step 8
Place two candy eyes or homemade edible eyes on each churro to complete the mummy's face.
Step 9
Allow the white chocolate to set, securing the eyes in place on the churros.
Step 10
These Mummy Churros are best served fresh.
