Everything Bagel Drop Biscuits

A clever spin off of the plain drop biscuits from Timothy Pakron's cookbook, Mississippi Vegan, these vegan Everything Bagel seasoned biscuits are the ultimate breakfast pastry. You can use store bought Everything Bagel Seasoning, or whip up a homemade batch and keep the leftovers in your spice cabinet.

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 3 tablespoons cold vegan butter, plus some, melted, for brushing
  • 2 tablespoons unmelted refined coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 1/4 cup very cold plain almond or soy milk


  • Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 475°F and line one large or two small baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • Step 2

    Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, and nutritional yeast in a large bowl. Using a whisk, vigorously mix the mixture, mixing everything together and removing any clumps.

  • Step 3

    Add the cold butter, coconut oil, and minced garlic. Using a fork or pastry cutter, cut in the butter until you are left with a crumbly texture. Pour in the milk and mix until just combined, making sure to get the dry bits at the bottom of the bowl.

  • Step 4

    Using an ice cream scoop, transfer 8 to 12 mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet(s). Sprinkle a good amount of everything bagel seasoning on top. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until just the tops are slightly golden. Remove and brush with melted vegan butter.
