Honey Butter Crispy Chicken Nuggets

  • 2 pounds chicken
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 cups crushed ritz crackers
  • dashes salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey


  • Step 1

    If you need to make your own buttermilk – mix together the 1 cup milk and 3-4 tbsp vinegar. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

  • Step 2

    Cut up the chicken breasts into nuggets about 1-2 inches.

  • Step 3

    Place the chicken nuggets in the buttermilk, sprinkle a bit of salt in the bowl, and refigerate for 20-25 minutes.

  • Step 4

    Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • Step 5

    In a shallow bowl, crush the crackers and add in the black pepper.

  • Step 6

    Take out the chicken nuggets from the fridge. Dip the chicken nuggets into the cracker mixture. Toss them around a bit so they get fully coated. Place on the baking sheet.

  • Step 7

    Once all the chicken nuggets are on the baking sheet, make sure they are evenly spaced. Drizzle olive oil on top of the nuggets, then place in the oven.

  • Step 8

    Bake the nuggets for about 30 minutes, flipping them halfway.

  • Step 9

    While the nuggets are baking (the last 15 mins) make the hot honey butter. Place the butter on the stove or in the microwave and melt. Once the butter is melted, add in the honey and mix till combined.

  • Step 10

    Take the chicken nuggets out of the stove, and then drizzle the hot honey butter on top!
