Apple Pie with Autumn Glory Apples

#feedfeed #AutumnGloryApple

If you happened to walk into FeedfeedBrooklyn - our studio, kitchen and event space in Bushwick - on November 8th around 7PM, you would have found 15 influencers, each with their own set of pie making tools, a slab of pie dough and a bowl filled with thinly sliced Autumn Glory Apples.

The guests rolling out their dough. (@lalalunchbox, @bakedideas, @feedtheswimmers, @cookshala, @banchanstory, @foodieinnewyork, @kturro, @jakecohen, @rachelhsally, @feedyourglow, @conscious_cooking, @ashcuoco, @gothamgreens, @kevmasse, @fromtheathleteskitchen, @cloudykitchen)
We were fortunate to partner with Superfresh Growers to highlight the new Autumn Glory Apple - described as having notes of cinnamon and caramel - that has recently come on the market. It is a cross between a Fuji and a Golden Delicious, and it's just in time for a season filled with all things apple! So needless to say, our pie making workshop led by Erin of @cloudykitchen also included Apple Margaritas by Jessica of @feedmedearly, a warming Butternut Squash & Apple Soup (served in beautiful bowls courtesy of Juliska), and Apple Filled Cheese Boards.

We made our way from drinks to snacks before putting on those aprons and rolling out dough, which Erin had made in the days leading up to the workshop following the recipe she created for an Autumn Glory Apple Slab Pie.
After Erin demonstrated ideas for a lattice crust and different pie stamps, everyone got going on their own decorations. Of course, we set up a styling and photo area so we wouldn't miss the opportunity to shoot beautiful pies being made that evening.

There's nothing like cooking with friends and family during the Holidays, and our workshop was just that. By bringing together The Feedfeed community for an event that involved creativity, learning, trying and getting your hands a little dirty, our guests—some whom had never met before—were able to converse and laugh all while making an apple pie to be enjoyed at home.

Apple pie will always be a classic in the winter and fall, and now we have Erin to thank for making decorative crusts a little less intimidating. We are also excited about the Autumn Glory Apple because its flavors lend itself to even more than baking. It would pair nicely in savory dishes, as well as, cocktails (like the one we made)!
