Masala Chai Latte

  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 cups Plant based milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg powder
  • 3 Whole cloves
  • 3 Cardamom pods
  • 2 Cinnamon sticks
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 2 tablespoons Liquid sweetener
  • 2 black teabags


  • Step 1

    Boil 1.5 cups of water in a medium heat.

  • Step 2

    Roughly crush ginger with pestle and mortar and add it to the boiling water

  • Step 3

    Crush cardamom pods, cloves and cinnamon sticks roughly and add them to the boiling water along with nutmeg powder and pepper

  • Step 4

    Let the spiced water boil for about 10 minutes on a medium heat.

  • Step 5

    Add 2 tbsp of liquid sweetener to the water. You can adjust the quantity according to your taste.

  • Step 6

    Add loose leaf tea or tea bags to the boiling water and allow to brew for about 3 minutes in a medium heat.

  • Step 7

    Strain the tea into two mugs (only fill 3/4 of the mugs)

  • Step 8

    Top the mugs with warm milk and sprinkle a dash of cinnamon powder and serve!
