- 1 (14 ounce) package extra-firm tofu
- Almond milk, or other non-dairy alternative
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 21/2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Black pepper
- Dried basil
- Hot sauce
- Vegan butter, melted
Preheat oven to 425ºF. Cut the tofu into sticks and put between paper towels. Place some weights over the tofu, let drain for about 15 min.
Put the cornstarch in one bowl, the plant milk in a second bowl, and mix together panko, oil, paprika, salt, pepper and dried basil in a third bowl. Pour the crumb mixture onto a plate. Dip the tofu sticks first in cornstarch then in milk and then roll in crumb mix and place on lined baking sheet.
Bake for 25 minutes, flip, then bake 15 more minutes or until tofu is crispy.
Brush tofu with hot sauce and melted vegan butter. Enjoy!
