For the Stovetop Popcorn
ingredients
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tablespoons avocado oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
For the Thyme and Parmesan Popcorn:
ingredients
- 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 tablespoons thyme leaves
For the Brown Butter Sage Popcorn:
ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter, browned
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon ground sage
- Kosher salt, as needed
For the Olive Oil Chili Popcorn:
ingredients
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chili flakes
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Kosher salt, as needed
For the Black Pepper Basil Popcorn:
ingredients
- 1 teaspoon black pepper, coarsely ground
- 1/3 cup basil, chiffonade
- Kosher salt, as needed
For the Stovetop Popcorn
Method
Step 1
Preheat a 4-quart heavy bottom pan over medium high heat. Add oil, two popcorn kernels and cover. Once the two kernels have popped remove them from the pan.
Step 2
Remove the pan from the burner, add the remaining popcorn kernels and salt and let rest for 1 minute before continuing returning to the stove top. Cook popcorn until the popping has slowed down to one pop every few seconds. Remove from pan and season to taste with salt. Toss popcorn with your choice of seasoning: Parmesan and Thyme, Brown Butter Sage, Olive Oil Chile and/or Black Pepper Basil.
