- Home made bao or store bought

- Pickled purple cabbage & onions
- Thinly sliced cucumber, spring onion & chili
BBQ Glazed Tofu Steak
ingredients
- 450 grams extra firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons corn starch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 spring onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 knob of ginger, thinly sliced
- Salt & pepper to taste
Sauce
ingredients
- Handful thinly sliced purple cabbage
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Handful whole coriander seeds, star anise, and peppercorns
Method
Step 1
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2
Pat tofu dry, cut into big chunks and coat with corn starch evenly.
Step 3
In a baking tray, place tofu in and drizzle vegetable oil and bake for 20-30 mins until lightly golden.
Step 4
While tofu is baking, in a bowl, combine all the ingredients for the sauce.
Step 5
Heat up a pan on medium high heat and sauté spring onion and ginger until fragrant.
Step 6
Add baked tofu and sauce into the pan, let the sauce simmer and reduce and toss to combine.
Step 7
For the pickles, in a bowl, place thinly sliced cabbage and onions with spices and in a pan, bring the rest of ingredients to boil and simply pour over the veggies (allow cool down).
Step 8
Assemble bao sliders with tofu steak, pickles, thinly sliced cucumber and garnish with spring onion, chili and sesame seeds
