Have you ever tried a Japanese Fruit Sandwich? It’s a sweet sandwich where fluffy milk bread is filled with whipped cream and fresh fruit. We're filling this one with strawberries, but kiwi and navel oranges are common alternatives.

ingredients

  • 2 slices Japanese shokupan or other soft white bread
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 5 large strawberries, stems removed

Method

  • Step 1

    Lay down one piece of bread, then spread on half of the whipped cream.

  • Step 2

    Place the 5 strawberries stem side down in an X formation. Cover the strawberries with the rest of the whipped cream, then close the sandwich with the other piece of bread.

  • Step 3

    Remove the crusts, then wrap the sandwich up in wax or parchment paper. Slice into the sandwich, cutting along one of the diagonals of strawberries. Serve and enjoy!
