Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

(0)
"Everyone loves a steaming plate of meatball simmered in tomato sauce. Tomatoes have a slight acidic bite, which will pair well with red wines that have a nice acidic kick as well."

  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 pound ground beef

  • 2 Onion
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tabelspoons parsley
  • 1 tabelspoons basil
  • 2 tabelspoons Cooking Oil
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 can tomatoes
  • Salt, Pepper

Method

  • Step 1

Grate the onion, garlic, and parmesan. You can use the same grater for this.

  • Step 2

Finely chop the parsley and basil.

  • Step 3

Mix half the onion and garlic, the meat, spices, bread, cheese, and eggs until well mixed.

  • Step 4

Add water as needed to help the mixture stick together.

  • Step 5

This should make 16 medium-sized balls.

  • Step 6

Heat 1 tbsp of cooking oil and fry the meatballs until browned.

  • Step 7

In a saucepot heat the other tbsp of oil and saute the remaining onion and garlic.

  • Step 8

Add the tomatoes to the saucepot along with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Step 9

Add the meatballs to the pot and simmer on low until heated through.

  • Step 10

You can let the meatballs simmer for up to an hour, but 15 minutes will suffice
