Hot Chocolate
ingredients
- 4 cups whole milk (or a mix of milk and heavy cream for extra creaminess)
- 3 1/2 ounces dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of ground nutmeg
- Pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder (optional, for a spicy kick)
- Pinch of sea salt

- 4 ounces Dos Hombres Mezcal (1 ounce per serving)
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Shaved dark chocolate or cocoa powder (for garnish)
- Crushed candy canes or cinnamon sticks (optional, for garnish)
Method
Step 1
In a small saucepan, warm the milk over medium heat until steaming but not boiling.
Step 2
Reduce heat to low and whisk in the cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, cayenne (if using), and sea salt until fully combined.
Step 3
Stir in the chopped dark chocolate, mixing continuously until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
Step 4
Pour the hot chocolate evenly into four mugs.
Step 5
Add 1 oz of mezcal to each mug, stirring to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness, if needed.
Step 6
