Summer Savory Waffles Topped With Cheese

"Dried savory is emblematic for Bulgarian cuisine. Here we call it “tchubritsa”. So I added some of it to the waffle batter today. Best decision ever! Not tо mention the oven melted “kashkaval” (Bulgarian yellow cheese)… So good! ?"

Love this cheesy waffle with Summer savory.

Savory Cheese Waffles

Ingredients:

Your favorite waffle batter

1-2 tablespoons dried savory (or thyme, oregano, rosemary, etc.)

Handful of grated cheese (kashkaval, cheddar, parmesan, etc.)

Directions:

Make your favorite waffle batter. The “Waffle I” recipe here is a keeper. Just skip the vanilla extract this time

Add your dried herb of choice into the batter. You can always use fresh herbs, of course.

Cook the waffles in a preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray until light brown. You’re going to make them extra brown in the oven.

Heat the oven to 200°C.

Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place the waffles into the tray.

Sprinkle a generous amount of grated cheese on top & Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted. Serve hot.
