- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large room temperature egg
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Method
Prepare the Brownie Batter
Step 1
In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and cocoa powder, stirring until well blended.
Step 2
Add granulated sugar and mix thoroughly.
Step 3
Incorporate the eggs one at a time, whisking until the mixture is smooth. Stir in vanilla extract and salt.
Step 4
Gradually add sifted all-purpose flour, mixing until just combined.
Step 5
Fold in chocolate chips, then transfer the batter to a greased 9 x 9-inch baking pan.
Make the Cookie Dough
Step 1
In a separate bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Step 2
Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
Step 3
Combine salt, baking powder, baking soda, and all-purpose flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Gently fold in chocolate chips.
Assemble the Brookies
Step 1
Scoop small portions of cookie dough and place them on top of the brownie batter. Spread gently to create an even layer.
Bake
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 340°F. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Allow the brookies to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
