- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (such as Hu Kitchen)
- 1/3 cup homemade (or store bought) caramel sauce
- Flaky sea salt, for topping
Method
Step 1
Preheat the to 350°F. Line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Step 2
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Step 3
Stir in the light brown sugar, granulated sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Step 4
Press half the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
Step 5
Pour the caramel sauce over the dough and spread gently with a spoon or spatula.
Step 6
Crumble the remaining dough on top of the caramel layer, leaving some gaps for caramel to peek through.
Step 7
Bake for 24–26 minutes, until golden on top and slightly gooey in the center.
Step 8
Sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Let cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing into bars. Enjoy!
