ingredients

  • 5 ounces tamarind pods, shelled
  • 1/2 cup light agave nectar
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Tajin chile powder, (optional)

Method

  • Step 1

    Place tamarind pods, agave nectar, chili powder, and water in a pot and bring to a boil. Boil for 1 minute and remove from heat.

  • Step 2

    Let pods sit in water, stirring frequently to remove and dissolve tamarind paste from pods.

  • Step 3

    Strain liquid once all the tamarind paste has dissolved and place in paleta molds.

  • Step 4

    Freeze overnight. Optional-Garnish with Tajin chile powder before serving.
