Yellow Rice

"This is a ‘dump everything and forgot about it’ recipe. Who doesn’t like that? Go about your business while this is cooking on a low heat. Come back to fluffy, flavorful rice. There is no prep time needed as you will only use pantry items which is even better. The 2 mins is for gathering the items needed for this recipe. I’ve served this with Caribbean Jerk Chicken"

ingredients

  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 tsp dried onions
  • 2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 3 tsp dehydrated bell pepper
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 chicken stock cubes
  • a few strands saffron
  • 1 tbsp turmeric
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp sage

Method

  • Step 1

    Heat 3 cups of water. Add butter, rice, saffron, garlic powder, dried onions, dehydrated bell pepper, red pepper flakes, chicken stock cubes, oregano and turmeric into the water. Make sure the stock cubes dissolve completely in the liquid.

  • Step 2

    Lower the heat and cover. Simmer till the rice is done for about 25 mins.

  • Step 3

    Serve with thinly sliced sage.
