Broiled Grapefruit

(0)
"Broiled grapefruit makes for a simple and delicious breakfast. Especially during citrus season, when these big & juicy fruits are plentiful at your local supermarket. Now, I know cooked grapefruit might seem a bit strange if you’ve never had it, but it’s actually quite enjoyable on a cold winter’s day. I highly recommend trying it."

ingredients

  • 1 large Grapefruit
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • Slivered Almonds

Method

  • Step 1

Preheat your oven to “broil” and line a baking pan with tinfoil.

  • Step 2

Slice your grapefruit in half. You may also need to slice a small amount off the bottom if the halves are too wobbly to stand on their own. Slice around the circumference of the grapefruit, in between the peel and the fruit itself. (Without slicing all the way through the bottom.) Then, slice in between each triangle section. This will make it easier to eat - no special utensil required!

  • Step 3

Place your halves facing up on the lined baking pan. Sprinkle the tops of each grapefruit with half of the brown sugar and half of the salt.

  • Step 4

Broil in the oven for 5 minutes. Remove, plate, and sprinkle slivered almonds on top. Enjoy!
