ingredients

  • 2 sliced apples
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 6 sliced croissants
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar

Method

  • Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 180C. Grease a jumbo cupcake tray with butter and player the thick slices of croissant in each of the cups in the tray. Mix the brown sugar with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and set aside.

  • Step 2

    In a saucepan, heat the milk and butter on medium heat until the butter has melted.

  • Step 3

    In a large bowl, mix the eggs, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.

  • Step 4

    Whisk the butter and milk into the egg mixture and pour over the croissants in the cupcake tray, filling up 2/4 of the cup.

  • Step 5

    Place 4 to 5 slices of the apple in the center of each cup and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar.

  • Step 6

    Bake in the oven for 40 minutes, allow to cool slightly and serve warm with cream or ice cream.
