Winter Doldrums
Got You Down?

Look, we all get the winter doldrums this time of the year. The major yearly holidays have wrapped up, fresh produce in the Northeast amounts to parsnips, potatoes and apples until April and I have to ask myself, how many more root vegetables can one human eat? So in lieu of root veggies, my answer is cocktails. Booze calms the soul and transports you instantly out of the sadness that is the end of the winter. And let me tell you, these cocktails are guaranteed to keep you warm throughout the last vestiges of the season.

Gingery Black Manhattan
By @giraffescanbake
This recipe incorporates one of my favorite things—amaro. Any kind of bitter, herbaceous liqueur I am here for! I love the idea of tempering the Averna Amaro with a gingery, sweet liqueur. This twist on a classic manhattan warms me right up!

Pistachio Irish Whiskey Cocktail
by @cheerstohappyhour

Pistachios are 100% my favorite nut! And mixing them with Irish whiskey makes it a dream cocktail for me. The nutty, earthy notes of the whiskey pair perfectly with the sweet taste of a pistachio.
