ingredients

  • 3 lasagna pasta sheets, cooked 1 minute shy of al dente
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 80 grams diced white onions
  • 4 smashed garlic cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dry oregano
  • 1 sprig fresh oregano
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • 6 fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 chopped basil leaves for garnish

Method

  • Step 1

    Add olive oil to a large skillet on medium heat.

  • Step 2

    Cook the garlic until it turns slightly brown then add in the onions & chili flakes.

  • Step 3

    Once the onions are translucent, add in the dry oregano, tomato sauce, water, the leafs from the fresh sprig of oregano, the 6 basil leafs and nutritional yeast then stir and allow to cook for 5 minutes.

  • Step 4

    Add in salt & pepper to taste.

  • Step 5

    Cut the cooked lasagna pasta into large squares then add them into the sauce.

  • Step 6

    Turn off the heat and mix in the lemon zest then serve right away garnished with fresh basil
