Onions cooked in Balsamic Vinegar

(0)
"What makes them so delicious is the balsamic syrup they are cooked in. It gives them such a nice taste. And they look great on a plate, just like a flower."

ingredients

  • 4 Red Onions
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 75 ml Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Sugar
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • fresh Thyme

Method

  • Step 1

Melt the butter and let cool slightly. Then mix all ingredients except the onion and herbs. Pour them into a baking dish.

  • Step 2

Cut the onion into halves but do not cut the stem and roots completely off, this prevents them from falling apart. Take off the outer skin parts. Put them cut side up into the baking dish and cover with aluminium foil.

  • Step 3

Bake in the oven at 190 C for 30 minutes. Take the foil off and turn the onions cut side down.

  • Step 4

Bake for another 20-30 minutes. Serve them cut side up with a little of the liquid and some fresh herbs as decoration.
