"For a snack I wanted to bake a focaccia, but it needed to look beautiful. So, I decorated it with an herb garden. It's simple!"

ingredients

For the dough

  • 500 gram strong Bread Flour
  • 7 gram Dried Yeast
  • 5 gram Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 8 gram Salt
  • 300 milliliter warm Water

Method

  • Step 1

Mix 1/3 of the flour with the yeast, sugar and half of the water. Let it rest covered for 30 minutes.

  • Step 2

Now add the rest of the flour, the olive oil and start kneading or use your machine. Slowly add the water (you might not need it all) and as soon as the dough gets together add the salt. Go on kneading until you have a smooth non-sticking dough. Cover and let rest for 2 hours.

  • Step 3

You can now also freeze the dough cut into 2-4 pieces, I always have some in my freezer.

ingredients

For the Herb Garden

  • 1 handful of fresh Herbs, like Rosemary, Thyme, Parsley, Chives
  • some Cherry Tomatoes, yellow and red
  • some black Olives
  • some red Onion

to decorate

  • Step 1

After the dough has rested for at least 2 hours you just pull it to a rectangle. I do not flatten it with a rolling pin! Now you can be as creative as you like!

  • Step 2

I pushed everything slightly into the dough, sprinkled it with some coarse sea salt and put it into the oven at 220 C for 20-30 minutes. You may serve it warm!
