ingredients

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 medium finely chopped onion
  • 2/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

ingredients

For the Gravy:

Method

  • Step 1

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-5 minutes until soft and translucent.

  • Step 2

In a stand mixer bowl, combine the sautéed onions, breadcrumbs, milk, ground beef, ground pork, egg, sea salt, black pepper, allspice, and garlic powder. Mix on low speed until combined, then increase to high speed and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).

  • Step 3

With wet hands, form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs using a small ice cream scooper for uniform size.

  • Step 4

In the same skillet, melt 4 tablespoons butter over medium-low heat. Cook the meatballs in batches, turning occasionally, for 3-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Remove from the skillet and keep warm.

  • Step 5

In the same skillet, whisk in flour, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Gradually add EPIC Bone Broth, whisking constantly until thickened and smooth.

  • Step 6

Stir in heavy cream and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Step 7

Return the cooked meatballs to the skillet, coating them in the gravy. Simmer for 5 minutes until heated through.

  • Step 8

Serve hot with mashed potatoes and garnish with fresh dill if desired. Enjoy!
