Use the base dough for this pizza babka to make a variety of breads – sweet or savory!

ingredients

Dough

  • 250 grams 00 flour
  • 1 1/2 grams baking powder
  • 200 grams Greek yogurt
  • Semolina flour for rolling, optional

Pizza filling

  • Tomato paste
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil

Garlic oil

  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • Parsley
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt

Method

  • Step 1

    Mix flour and baking powder, add yogurt and bring together with a spoon. Knead for a few minutes on an oiled surface until the dough is smooth and elastic. Cover and leave for 30min to 2 hours.

  • Step 2

    Once ready preheat oven to 350F.

  • Step 3

    Sprinkle some semolina or normal flour and roll out the dough to a pizza shape about 1/2cm thick then Transfer to some greaseproof paper.

  • Step 4

    Spread tomato paste, cheese and cut some basil.

  • Step 5

    Roll up, cut down the middle and fold as shown in reel.

  • Step 6

    Add to a loaf tin with the greaseproof paper and bake in oven for approx. 30 min.

  • Step 7

    While it’s in there mix garlic, olive oil and parsley, spread as soon as the Babka comes out of the oven. Wait 5 minutes and enjoy while warm.
