ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 6 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons crushed red pepper
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 2 28-ounce cans Tuttorosso Peeled Plum Tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
Method
Step 1
Brown onions and garlic in olive oil over medium heat in a large sauté pan or dutch oven.
Step 2
Add crushed red pepper and chili powder, stir 1-2 minutes. Add 2 cans of Tuttorosso Peeled Plum Tomatoes with salt and pepper.
Step 3
As the tomatoes soften, break down softly with a wooden spoon. Simmer 30 minutes or until thickened. Stir in basil, simmer for 5 minutes then serve.
Step 4
Serve with grated parmesan cheese or extra fresh basil leaves.
