ingredients
- 250 gram Yam /Ol
- 2 pieces Potato
- 1 cups Coconut (grated)
- 1 pieces Tomato
- 1/2 inch Ginger slice
- 1 cups Black Chickpeas
- 1 teaspoons Turmeric Powder
- 1 teaspoons Coriander Powder
- 1 teaspoons Garam Masala Powder
- To Taste Salt
- To Taste Sugar
- 1 cups Mustard Oil
- 1 pieces Lemon
Method
Step 1
Peel off the skin of potatoes and yams. Cut them into cubes. Perboil the potatoes and set aside. Put Yam cubes in water. Add 1 tsp salt and 1 Tsp lime juice.(lime juice helps in reducing chances of itching). Boil them till yam cubes become soft(check by piercing the knife).
Step 2
Cut the tomato and ginger slice and make a paste.
Step 3
Put 2-3 tsp of mustard oil in pan. Put the potato cubes for frying. After few minutes, add the yam cubes. Fry them for few minutes.
Step 4
Add the grated coconut. Add the masala paste.Add 1 Cup Black Chickpeas. (Soak black Chickpeas in water overnight. Pressure cook the chickpeas next morning till it softens). Add 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 Tsp coriander powder and salt and sugar to taste. Cook till raw smell of the masala goes away.
Step 5
Add water as much needed. Cook till water absorbs the masala. Sprinkle 1 Tsp Garam Masala Powder and finish cooking.
Step 6
Make sure to cover with a lid and keep it covered for few minutes. Then serve with hot rice.
