A Note From feedfeed

Hello! Julianna from Join Jules here with the Feedfeed team celebrating UK spirits with Food is GREAT!  I'm making a classic Gin Gimlet, so first let's talk about gin. UK gins are world famous. There are over 360 distilleries across the UK, from the remote Outer Hebrides in Scotland down to the Isles of Scilly off the Cornish coast. Gin has been produced in the UK for centuries, but skilled producers are still finding ways to shake things up, using innovative production techniques and bold, natural botanicals. Did you know that the UK is the world’s leading gin exporter?

For this version, I’ve used Silent Pool Gin, an English gin which has beautiful floral notes grounded by earthy cassia bark. The distillery uses a local honey which gives this gin a gorgeous, smooth finish. You could also use a Scottish gin: we recommend Edinburgh Gin, which has zesty, citrus notes; or Caorunn Gin, which is handcrafted using local botanicals foraged in the Scottish Highlands. Alternatively, why not try a non-alcoholic spirit? Seedlip are the world’s very first distilled non-alcoholic spirit, and the floral notes of Garden 108 are perfect for this cocktail.

Another important part of a Gin Gimlet? The lime cordial! I’m going to show you how to make your own at home and whip up a delicious gin gimlet using the UK's finest gins.

This cocktail pairs perfectly with our Scottish Smoked Salmon and Dill Cream Cheese Tartines.

This recipe was produced in partnership with Food is GREAT to celebrate the bounty of British food and drink that comprises the unique culinary landscape of the UK. See more recipes from all four corners of the UK here!
