A kefta tajine, also known as meatballs Moroccan style cooked  in a tajine

 

This dish is so TASTY! The great thing about cooking with a tajine is that it is healthy and rich in flavor. You can even add your favorite vegetables to it! One of the great advantages of a tajine is that the vitamins and minerals remain present in the dish!

ingredients

  • 200 grams lean ground beef
  • 1 red onion, sliced into rings
  • 2 tomatoes, cubed
  • 1/2 red pepper, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 70 grams tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 bunch fresh coriander
  • 1 tablespoon ras el hanout
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric
  • Salt, to taste

Method

  • Step 1

    Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in the tajine. Then add the red onion and garlic and let it cook on a low heat for 5-10 minutes.

  • Step 2

    Then add the tomato, tomato puree, red pepper, ¼ bunch of coriander, ½ tablespoon ras el hanout, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon onion powder and 1 teaspoon turmeric. Let it cook for 5 minutes and then add 150 ml of hot water. Cover the tajine and let it simmer for another 10 minutes.

  • Step 3

    In the meantime, mix the herbs, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and some coriander with the minced meat. Make small balls of this and put them in the tajine. Cover the tajine with the lid again.

  • Step 4

    Let the meatballs cook on low heat for 10 minutes.

  • Step 5

    Garnish with some fresh coriander and serve with fresh wholemeal bread.
