Onion rings:
ingredients
- 3 white onions
- Water
- Ice
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder
- 3/4 cup cold water
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- Oil, for frying
Sauce:
ingredients
- 2 tablespoons mayo
- 1/2 teaspoon oyster sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne powder
- 1 tablespoon sriracha
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
Method
Step 1
Remove skin from onions and slice into rings. Add water and ice to a large bowl and soak onions for 6 minutes.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, baking powder and cold water.
Step 3
Heat oil in a medium pan over medium heat. Remove onions from water and pat dry on a kitchen towel. Add onion rings to batter until fully coated. Remove onions from batter and fry until golden and crispy. Place on a paper towel lined plate to absorb excess oil.
Step 4
In a small bowl, mix together all sauce ingredients. Serve with onion rings.
