Nut Butter and Chia Jam Toast
Toasting to the fact that nut butter + jam just never gets old!🍞🍓 To make this toastie I topped @littlenorthernbakehouse new sprouted 7 grain gluten free bread with cashew butter & strawberry chia jam. To make the jam, add 2 cups strawberries or raspberries to a pot and heat on the stove. Mash once warm. Squeeze in the juice of 1/2 a lemon and add 2 Tbs chia seeds (to thicken) + a little drizzle of maple syrup if you want! -@foodyfirst

ingredients

  • 1 slice bread, toasted
  • 2 cups strawberries, or raspberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup, optional
  • 2 tablespoons nut butter, or seed butter

Method

  • Step 1

    Add berries to a small pot and heat until warmed. Mash with a fork or masher. Add lemon juice, chia seeds and maple syrup, if using. Cook until thickened.

  • Step 2

    Store any leftovers in the fridge and use within a couple of days.

  • Step 3

    Slather toast with nut butter of choice and top with chia jam!
