ingredients
- 1 package store-bought dumpling wrappers
- 1 pound ground lamb
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 large yellow onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons cumin seeds, toasted
- 1 teaspoon Aleppo pepper
- kosher salt, to taste
- freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
ingredients
For the dipping sauce
- 2 cloves fresh garlic
- 1 cup sour cream
- chili oil, to taste
Method
Step 1
Combine the filling ingredients in a large bowl.
Step 2
Take each dumpling wrapper and stuff it with about a teaspoon of filling. Fold the manti and place filled dumplings on a floured sheet pan.
Step 3
If you have a steamer, steam the manti for 8-10 minutes or until the lamb is cooked through. Otherwise, you can use the pan-fry method: heat oil in a skillet over medium. Add the manti (be careful not to crowd) and fry until the bottoms turn golden. At this point and with your lid at the ready, add a few tablespoons of water to the skillet and cover. Allow the manti to steam the rest of the way through.
Step 4
While the manti cook, microplane 2 cloves of garlic into the sour cream and season with salt. Serve the manti with garlic sour cream, chili oil, and more cilantro if you’d like.
