ingredients
- Non-stick cooking spray, as needed
- 2 teaspoons neutral oil
- 1 pound ground beef (or ground sausage)
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground pepper, to taste
- 1 cup RiceSelect® Royal Blend® Rice
- 1/2 cup yelllow onion, finely diced
- 1 green bell pepper, seeded and finely diced
- 2 stalks of celery, finely sliced
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 cups beef broth (or water)
- 1 tablespoon Creole seasoning
Method
Step 1
Spray the inside of your slow cooker generously with cooking spray.
Step 2
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 3
Season the ground beef (or sausage) with salt and pepper, then add it to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up as it browns, until no longer pink. Drain excess grease and transfer the meat to the greased slow cooker.
Step 4
Add the RiceSelect® Royal Blend® Rice, diced onion, green bell pepper, celery, garlic, broth (or water), and Creole seasoning into the slow cooker. Stir everything together to combine well.
Step 5
Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours or on LOW for 4 to 6 hours, until the rice is tender and all flavors are blended.
Step 6
Fluff the rice and serve warm.
