  • Pinch of nutmeg, to taste
  • 2/3 cups heavy cream

ingredients

To Serve:

  • Lingonberry sauce
  • Creamy mashed potatoes
  • Seasonal green vegetables
  • Fresh dill or parsley, for garnish

Method

To make the Meatballs:

  • Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  • Step 2

In a bowl, combine the finely diced bread, grated onion, and milk. Let it soak for a few minutes until the bread softens.

  • Step 3

Add minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, pork mince, beef mince, egg, nutmeg, allspice, onion granules, garlic granules, thyme, salt, and pepper to the soaked bread mixture.

  • Step 4

Mix the ingredients thoroughly and roll the mixture into small balls.

Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides until they turn golden. Once browned, transfer the meatballs to a baking dish and place them in the preheated oven to cook through.

To make the Gravy:

  • Step 1

Using the same pan (without cleaning it), melt butter over medium heat.

  • Step 2

Add the diced shallot and cook until translucent.

  • Step 3

Sprinkle the flour into the pan and cook for a couple of minutes until lightly toasted.

  • Step 4

Gradually pour in the beef stock, stirring constantly.

  • Step 5

Add Dijon mustard, pepper, nutmeg, and heavy cream. Stir well.

  • Step 6

Return the meatballs to the pan, coating them with the gravy. Let it simmer for a few minutes.

Plate the Swedish meatballs with the creamy gravy.

  • Step 2

Serve alongside lingonberry sauce, creamy mashed potatoes, and seasonal green vegetables.

  • Step 3

Garnish with fresh dill or parsley before serving.
