ingredients
- 3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 can tuna, drained
- 2 tablespoons Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Mayo, plus more for serving
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon furikake (or sesame seeds), plus more for garnish
- 4 full-size (8 x 7 inch) nori sheets
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1 avocado, thinly sliced
- 2 cups cooked sushi rice, cooled to room temperature
Method
Step 1
In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Microwave for 15 seconds, then stir until the sugar dissolves. Pour the mixture over the cooled sushi rice and combine well. Set aside.
Step 2
In another bowl, mix the drained tuna with sriracha mayo, chopped green onions, and furikake.
Step 3
Lay a nori sheet, shiny side down, on a flat surface. Place 2 large spoonfuls of the seasoned rice in the center and flatten slightly.
Step 4
Layer carrot, avocado, and the tuna mixture on top of the rice. Add another 2 spoonfuls of rice on top of the filling.
Step 5
Fold each side of the nori sheet over the filling to form a square package. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
Step 6
Unwrap and slice the onigirazu in half. Serve with extra sriracha mayo and a sprinkle of furikake or sesame seeds.
