Classic meatballs with spaghetti

- 400 gram spaghetti
ingredients
For the meatballs
- 400 minced beef
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 3 tablespoons breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp basil
- 2 tablespoons Parmesan
- Salt & pepper to taste
Method
Step 1
Mix the ingredients together in a large bowl.
Step 2
Shape into small balls and leave to set in the fridge for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, make the tomato sauce.
Step 3
Heat the sauce and drop the meatballs in one by one. Simmer for 20 minutes
Step 4
Cook the spaghetti for 12 minutes.
Step 5
Serve the spaghetti with meatballs and sauce on top. Garnish with Parmesan.

For the tomato sauce
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves finely sliced garlic
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tin plum tomatoes
- 1 pack cherry tomatoes on the vine, halved
- 1 stick celery, finely sliced
- 1 carrot, finely diced
- grated Parmesan to garnish
Step 1
Heat a pan with oil and soften the onion on a medium-low heat, around 5 minutes. Add the garlic, and cook for 1 minute. Add carrot, celery, both kinds of tomatoes and seasoning, simmer for 10 minutes.
Step 2
Blitz until smooth using a blender.
