ingredients
- 10 ounces ground beef (80/20), shaped into patties
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 burger buns, toasted
- Shredded iceburg lettuce
- 1 large tomato, sliced into rings
- 2 medium onions, sliced `
- 1/2 cup Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- Neutral oil, as needed
Method
To caramelized the onions
Step 1
In a cast iron pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil and the sliced onions.
Step 2
Cook on low heat until fully softened, about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a splash of water if the pan gets dry.
Step 3
Once the onions are softened, add in 2 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce.
Step 4
Stir until the sauce is incorporated and cook for a few more minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
To make the burgers
Step 1
Season both sides of the burger patties with salt and pepper.
Step 2
In the same pan, drizzle some oil and add the patties.
Step 3
Brush both sides of the patties with 2 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce.
Step 4
Cook until the desired doneness is reached. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step 5
Quickly toast the insides of the burger buns in the pan for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
To assemble
Step 1
Spread mayonnaise on the insides of the toasted buns.
Step 2
Starting with the bottom bun, add a patty, sliced tomato, caramelized onions, shredded lettuce, and top with the other half of the bun.
Step 3
Serve immediately and enjoy!
